Sultan of Sokoto advocates integrity and accountability for national development

The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar has advised professional accountants to be more committed to ideals of integrity and accountability in building a prosperous nation.He made this known during a courtesy visit by the leadership of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) to his palace on Monday 17th October, 2022 on the sidelines of its 6th Session of its Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) programme in Sokoto State.

The Sultan averred that proper management and accountability of funds and resources entrusted to accountants forms a focal component in ensuring a corruption-free society.He enjoined accountants to always uphold their professional code of ethics bearing in mind that the Almighty God expects accountability from all.

ANAN President, Rev. Canon Prof. Benjamin Chuka Osisioma in his remarks lauded the Sultan for his fatherly role in promoting peace and uniting the nation.Prof. Osisioma said the 6th Session of its MCPD programme themed “Dynamics of Corporate Reporting and Governance” is geared at boosting the competence of its members in the production of credible financial and sustainability reports for improved quality service delivery.
