The Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru has called on professional accountants to design viable strategies in addressing the nation’s economic challenges.
He stated this on Tuesday 15th October, 2024 while opening the 5th Session of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) programme in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
Nwifuru, represented by the Speaker, Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Odunwa said accountants’ role as financial managers is critically needed in addressing the economic challenges in the country.
Speaking on the MCPD theme, “Risk Management in Public Finance”, he said accountants have a duty of care to society in providing credible data to stakeholders for informed decision-making and navigating the complex economic landscape.
He advised accountants to leverage continuous learning in gaining increased capacity for providing reliable assurance services on sustainability reporting.
