ANAN President advocates improved governance for corporate, national development

The President of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Dr. James Ekerare Neminebor has advised corporate and national stakeholders to implement regulatory policies for concrete development.

He stated this at the 29th Annual National Conference of the Association on 17th September, 2024 in Abuja.

Themed “Advancing Accounting Excellence in a Changing World”, he noted that the increasing wave of technological innovations and economic challenges across the world requires accounting professionals to be proactive and adaptive in transforming disruptions into opportunities for optimal development.

He called for enhanced financial transparency in providing clear and accurate financial information to citizens in view of the damaging impact of corruption on Nigeria’s development.

In ensuring environmental sustainability and tackling challenges of oil pollution and deforestation, he advocated for the deployment of Green Accounting practices in identifying and mitigating risks, resource optimization and waste reduction.

Dr. Neminebor further called for increased leverage of digital technologies through investment in digital infrastructure and skills development, collaboration between regulators, industry, and innovators.

ANAN Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Kayode Olushola Fasua in his remarks asserted that the 2024 Conference is apt and imperative in addressing socio-economic challenges militating against accountability and development in the nation.
