Scholars Advocate Tax Compliance, Climate Financing, and Digitalization at ANAN Mandatory Development Programme

It was a convergence of intellectual engagements and advocacy at the First Session of 2026 ANAN Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) in Abuja, when resource persons and members discussed and charted paths for national development.

Delivering a lecture on “Digital Economy and Emerging Revenue Sources”, Prof. Godwin Oyedokun advocated leveraging Nigeria’s digital economy while ensuring tax compliance.

He noted that the transformative opportunities in fintech, e-commerce, digital services, and emerging technologies, offers viable revenue streams, fiscal diversification, and inclusive prosperity for the nation.

Prof. Ndifon Ojong Ejoh in his lecture on “Climate Finance and Sustainability Reporting” called for comprehensive sustainability reporting from accountants through measurement, analysis, and disclosure of government and corporate organizations’ Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance in attracting public and private sectors funding and investment.

In his presentation on “National Tax Policy Reforms” Dr Abdul Garba, advised accountants to continually stay updated on tax laws, monitor official communications, and enhance their digital capacity in enhancing national development.

Dr. John Chika Onwuchekwa in his lecture on “Role of Accountants under National AML and CTF Regime urged accountants to conscientiously monitor financial processes in ensuring adherence to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) regulations.

In ensuring strong Public Financial Management (PFM) systems, Prof. Mahmoud Ibrahim in his lecture on “Digitalization and Innovation in PFM” called for biometric authentication, automated workflows and audit trails for efficient monitoring and accountability of financial processes.
